A survey conducted by Prepared Foods Magazine indicates that the average American will have consumed 1,500 Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches by the time they graduate high school. However, this classic American sandwich has not always been the perfect combination of sweet, savory, and sometimes crunch that we know & love today.
Early peanut butter pairings included things such as pimento, nasturtium, cheese, and watercress; but, in the late 1890s and early 1900s, technology and innovations in the food industry led to the development of the eternally nostalgic PB&J Sandwich that now occupies our hearts (and stomachs)!

Please be sure to arrive at The J.M. Smucker Company Headquarters: 1 Strawberry Ln, Orrville, OH 44667 promptly at 10:00 AM to ensure you do not miss the campus tour departing at 10:30 AM. Please park in either the Visitor or Northwest lot identified on the map (attached) and enter the building through the Renewal Building entrance, also identified on the map (attached). Upon entering the building, security will provide you with a guest badge and volunteers will be waiting to direct you to the registration table. Please make sure to bring a photo I.D.
10:30 AM J.M. Smucker House, Archives, and Campus Tour
At 10:30 we will begin our day with a tour of the inviting campus of The J.M. Smucker Company. Included in the tour will be an overview of the company’s rich history by The J.M. Smucker Company Archives Manager, Nicole Laflamme Ellis and the Assistant Archives Manager, Tricia McEldowney. At the end of the day, there will be an opportunity to shop The J.M. Smucker Company Store!

Social Media Command Center 101
Led by Kyle Hess, Social Media Team Leader and Beth Dulaney, Senior Representative, this session is designed to provide guests with an inside look at how Smucker’s approaches social media. From the breath-taking perspective of a consumer care specialist in the Social Media Command Center to the intricacies of social monitoring, reputation management, consumer care, and social education.
In this session, guests will experience an example of the data analysis of The J.M. Smucker Company family of brands, cross-functional distribution benefits, and the integration of multiple consumer communication channels.
Speakers (Sharon Bucher, Analyst and Stephanie Ray, Senior Representative) will cover the following topics:
- Evolution of consumer reporting
- Cross-functional demand and interest
- Business integration projects such as Consumer Data Share
As a guest in this program, attendees will learn about the relevance of streamlining communication, collaborating cross-functionally, and specializing per brand in an effort to deliver efficient seamless consumer care.
