Membership Magnet Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs)


How does the program work?

The online membership form has a “Referred By” field on it. Eligible new members must complete the form and include the name/contact of the recruiting member in the referral field.

Once the completed application is received, SOCAP staff will check to ensure that the recruiting member's dues is current and the new member meets the program qualifications.


How are points accrued?
The program will award points to current SOCAP members who successfully recruits a new member in three categories:

  • Regular Individual Members = 5 points
  • Business Partner Member = 5 points
  • Corporate Member (Silver or Platinum) = 10 points

How long will the Member Magnet Campaign run?
SOCAP’s Membership Magnet Program will run from January 15, 2018 through October 15 2018. In order for you to be credited for points, “new members” you recruit must have submitted their completed online applications with your name in the “Referred By” field by midnight on October 15, 2018.


How do I win?
The member with the most point will win our Grand Prize, a suite upgrade at the Grand America Hotel during SOCAP's 2018 Annual Conference, October 21-24 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The member with the second highest amount of points will win our Second Place Prize, a $100 Amazon Gift Card.

Any eligible member who earns 10 points or more, but does not win a grand prize, will receive a $25 Visa Gift Card.

In the event of a tie, winners will be selected based on who reached the total points first.

SOCAP will provide regular status updates on which members are leading in points. Updates will be provided via email, and in SCOOP monthly newsletter.


Am I eligible to participate in the program?
To participate in the Member Magnet Program, you must be current with your 2018 SOCAP membership.


What constitutes a “new member?”
A “new member” is defined as any individual or any company that was not a member of SOCAP in the 2017 calendar year, completes a membership application in 2018 and pays the new member fees.

How do I find out if I’ve won?
Winners will be notified via email, and recognized at our Annual Conference.


Do the points I accrue impact my SOCAP Chapter in any way?

  • If you recruit a “new member” in your area who decides to also join your Chapter, then yes. Your Chapter will benefit by increased growth.
  • If you recruit a “new member” outside your area, then no.

Chapters may have their own separate awards programs through which they receive recognition. This program is completely separate from that.
