Chapter Awards

SOCAP International offers three awards to chapters each year:  Chapter Retention, Chapter Achievement and STAR Awards.  Chapters can submit nominations for these awards.

CHAPTER RETENTION AWARDS

These awards recognize SOCAP chapters that aggressively and consistently retain and recruit members in order to create, improve and expand products and services and to ensure the vitality and growth of the organization. 

Chapters achieving member retention rates of 75 percent or higher will be honored with a Chapter Retention Award at the SOCAP Annual Conference.  Additionally, the members of the winning chapters a $75 discount on registration for the SOCAP Annual Conference.

SOCAP will select the one chapter that achieves obtains the highest retention rate.  This chapter will receive an additional special reward of one complimentary conference registration to the Annual Conference.

CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS (Make a Nomination)

These awards honor the achievements of SOCAP chapters in four major areas:  Membership, Chapter Newsletter, Outstanding Program and Innovation/Creativity.

Membership Award - This award recognizes the chapter with the highest percentage increase in total chapter members. All chapters are automatically eligible for this award. Chapters will be placed into one of three divisions (based on chapter size) and a winner will be determined by SOCAP from each division. Current divisions are as follows:

• Emerald Division - Chapters consisting of more than 100 members. Current chapters in this division are Chicago, Greater Philadelphia, Minnesota, New York Metro, Northwest Regional, California, Ohio, Southwest Regional, and Washington, D.C.
• Sapphire Division - Chapters consisting of 75-100 members. Current chapters in this division are Dallas/Fort Worth, Florida, Georgia, Great Lakes (Detroit), New England, and Wisconsin.
• Ruby Division - Chapters consisting of less than 75 members. Current chapters in this division are Central New York, Heartland, Houston, Indiana, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis Gateway.

Chapter Newsletter Award – This award recognizes achievements in publishing a chapter newsletter. Newsletters are judged on the following:

• Educational content- quality and volume of educational articles (teaching new skills, review of management techniques, information on relevant professional issues, etc.)
• Communication techniques-clarity, completeness, conciseness, concreteness and correctness.
• Participation-promotion of involvement in local and national SOCAP events, services and resources.
• Innovation/Creativity-design, graphics, professional appearance and originality.

A Selection Committee comprised of the SOCAP President and members of the Chapter Relations Committee choose the winners for the Chapter Newsletter Award.

Chapter Outstanding Program Award – This award recognizes chapter achievement in conducting programs and educational opportunities for members locally.

Chapter Innovation/Creativity Award – This award recognizes innovative ways that chapters are communicating with members. 

A Selection Committee comprised of the SOCAP President and members of the Chapter Relations Committee choose the winners for the Chapter Newsletter Award.

STAR AWARDS (Make a Nomination)

These awards are given to hardworking, dependable and dedicated individuals who support their local SOCAP chapter.  Chapter presidents can only nominate one individual from his/her chapter for a STAR Award.  Chapter STARs are honored at the SOCAP Annual Conference.
