Tim Sanders - The Likeability Factor

Charismatic keynote speaker in San Francisco, Tim Sanders (the 21st century Dale Carnegie and author of "The Likeability Factor") received a standing ovation from SOCAP members who took his advice to heart after 2005 SOCAP Chairman Sheila Sullivan and SOCAP members were treated to one of SOCAP's own (Dana Allender) singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" at the opening ceremonies. Here is a list of eight things Tim said we should use to raise our likeability factor:

  1. Reconnect with your thankfulness. Count three blessings every morning.
  2. If you are happy inside, tell your face. When someone smiles at
    you, smile back.
  3. Improve your personal resume. Read a relevant book every month.
  4. Listen powerfully. Give your conversational partners space to
    express their feelings.
  5. Stretch your empathetic imagination. Observe other people's
feelings. Don't try to fix them or 'relate' to them.
  6. Run a correction when you get things wrong. Be willing to say 'I
    don't know.'
  7. Keep your promises and be a finisher. If you want the title, take
the job that goes with it.
