Seven Steps to Personal Goal Setting
- Examine all areas of your life and decide where you want to make changes
and improvements.
- For each area of your life, choose a goal that is both challenging and
achievable. Remember, your personal goals represent your wishes, hopes, and
dreams for a better future, so don't limit yourself.
- Run a risk analysis for any significant, life-changing goals you've
chosen. Assess whether the rewards you will achieve will be worth the
sacrifices you may have to make.
- Choose two or three goals to start with. Pick goals that are important,
especially rewarding, or likely to be particularly pleasurable to work
toward and achieve.
- For each of your chosen goals, identify the individual steps you'll have
to work through to get where you want to be.
- Celebrate each success with a personal reward, something for yourself
that you really enjoy.
- Review your goals regularly and be prepared to discard any that no
longer serve your purposes or suit your needs.
