Market Yourself to Marketing
Customer care departments should work hand-in-hand with marketing
departments to provide the company with valuable information about
customers' wants and needs. But forming a good relationship with individuals
in another department can be complicated. Here are some ways to help you
market your department's assets to marketing:
- Ask to be included on the distribution lists for regularly issued
marketing materials -- and be sure to follow up if and when you don't
receive them.
- Make a personal, welcoming phone call to every new marketing manager that
joins your company. Introduce yourself and make them aware of the company's
consumer affairs department.
- If a manager changes brands, send them a synopsis of current and historic
consumer feedback on their new brand, with your own interpretations.
- Schedule a brief "consumer affairs orientation" with each new marketing
team member to familiarize them with your department's functions and
activities.
- Probe new marketing colleagues for their own experience and ideas in
consumer response and communications.
- When sending out your next regular report, include a personal note to new
marketing managers and point out data of particular interest to them.
