Meeting Focus: Globalization Trends

Globalization creates new challenges and opportunities in the marketplace. This session will cover the current trends in globalization and how they will they affect your business, the ways in which business economics and political relationships have been impacted by globalization, how companies in the U.S. and abroad have been changed positively and negatively by this new environment and how globalization impacts call center operations.

Speaker: Demosthenes Vardiabasis, Ph.D.

Bio for Dr. Demosthenes Vardiabasis:

Dr. Vardiabasis has served as chief executive officer of a health care company and as a director for many small companies. He was a founder of IQ Now, the pioneering health online company, and of International Medical Technologies. He has been a consultant to various size companies and not-for-profit associations including Trylon, Baxter and the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Vardiabasis has been published in numerous journals including the International Journal of Management and the Southwestern Economic Review and in the edited book International Trade: Global Commodity Price Stabilization. He is the editor of the five-volume book Economics.

Meeting Focus: Food Allergies and Dietary Restrictions with Emphasis on Gluten

Join top food and brand experts for an in-depth discussion on everything you always wanted to know about consumers with dietary restrictions with an emphasis on the ingredient, gluten. Speakers will include Lisa Schiffman, Founder of TuttiFoodie, a small media company specializing in creating custom Web content for food and beverage brands and Sueson Vess, President and Founder of Special Eats, a consulting firm dedicated to raising awareness of food intolerances and allergies (including allergies to gluten and dairy). This is a must-attend discussion for all food and beverage companies!

Bio for Lisa Schiffman:

Lisa Schiffman has spent her career using writing to help companies define and deepen their brands. She is the founder of TuttiFoodie, a small media company specializing in creating custom web content for food and beverage brands. She also publishes tuttifoodie.com, a once-weekly blog about off-the-beaten-path food and drinks, sent to adventurous eaters nationwide. Ms. Schiffman is the author of Generation J (Harper Collins), which takes a lighthearted and surprising look at the religious and cultural uncertainties of modern Jewish America. The book generated responses nationwide and made its way to the best seller lists of the San Francisco Chronicle and the Village Voice. It was reviewed on National Public Radio as well as in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Chicago Tribune, the San Diego Union Tribune, New York Newsday and many other publications.

Bio for Sueson Vess:

Sueson Vess is president and founder of Special Eats, a unique consulting firm dedicated to raising awareness of food intolerances and allergies (including allergies to gluten and dairy) and providing coaching to implement dietary changes. Sueson is author of Special Eats Simple, Delicious Solutions for Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Cooking, now in its fourth printing. She is a regular contributing writer to Living Without magazine, Chef/Host for the DVD cooking series, Special Eats Cooking with the Seasons, contributor to the DVD Unlocking the Mystery of Wheat and Gluten Intolerance and contributor to the Let’s Eat Out! series by Gluten Free Passport. She developed and maintains the informational Special Eats website.
